To start, it’s worth noting that this isn’t a review meant to bash Better Alt Shilajit. In fact, they offer a few decent products, including their main shilajit resin and their newer gummies and Better Alt Shilajit's honey sticks which offers an interesting way to take the product (although there are some questions about bioavailability with this method).
That said, they’ve got decent testing and a reasonably pure product, so they would probably even make it into my top 10 shilajit brands on the market right now. Coming in with what is a pretty average 75% fulvic acid content and at a fair price point, there isn’t anything wrong with Better Alt, but you can get better. And whilst they’re a good brand, as you’ll see in my review of Better Alt, they don’t break the top 3.
Generally I recommend brands like Nootrum providing a higher purity at the same price. As a result, better Alt doesn’t quite reach the top.
Better Alt Shilajit Resin Review
Better Alt's main product is their shilajit resin, which has a smooth, viscous texture and a somewhat earthy, mineral-heavy taste. Which sadly has in some cases almost become a red flag in the shilajit space. Because that’s the texture that the fakes emulate. Really there is some variety in shilajit depending on the drying methods used, but the firmer resin tends to not get emulated. That all said, Better Alt are a trustworthy brand so the softer resin isn’t a bad thing here.
The resin does deliver on the key benefits associated with shilajit, including enhanced energy, improved stamina, and potential support for cognitive function.
And the overall customer reviews are good with, users report feeling increased vitality after a few weeks of use, with some even mentioning better recovery after workouts.
However, the issue lies in the purity. Although the resin is effective, it lacks transparency in third-party testing. We didn’t receive a current certificate of analysis from Better Alt confirming the purity or potency prior to testing.
In contrast, Nootrum and other top-tier brands provide this level of transparency, making it easier to trust the product’s claims, meaning they showed us their certificates, one from Eurofins (who are a reputable tester), an internal and the source side 3rd party testing. Combining this, with Nootrum's 85% fulvic acid compared with Better Alt Shilajit having 75% ultimately means you can get better value elsewhere when it comes to shilajit resin.
Better Alt Shilajit Gummies
Now these were pretty good, but we do like to see a bit of a higher dose in gummies, that’s because even if they have retained the 75% fulvic acid content (most shilajit gummies do by the way) a lot of the micro compounds are damaged, regardless of what Better Alt claim.
That said, the taste is good (although it tastes more like orange than tamarind as they say, but maybe that's just me) and at their price point they are a really good option, when you’re looking for shilajit gummies that do have the same potency, but more of the shilajit, then there are typically as you’d expect more expensive. So at this $30 price point they’re good.
Better Alt’s gummies are a unique offering, aimed at those who find traditional resin challenging to incorporate into their daily routine. They taste reasonably good, with a slight mineral aftertaste but nothing overly strong. For beginners, these gummies are a convenient way to try shilajit without dealing with the resin’s texture and taste.
There is also the advantage that if you’re one of the people who like to take shilajit in the cheek or under the tongue, it is easier with a gummy.
Better Alt Customer Reviews and Brand Perception
Customer reviews for Better Alt Shilajit are generally positive. Many users appreciate the energy boost and improved stamina, while others find the taste and texture of the resin more manageable than other brands. That said, a number of reviews express disappointment at the lack of third-party testing transparency, which is a major factor for people serious about their supplements.
On Reddit and other forums, reviews are mixed but lean positive, with some users pointing out that Better Alt is “good enough” but doesn’t stand out compared to more rigorous brands like Nootrum.
Conclusion
Overall, Better Alt Shilajit offers a reasonable option in the shilajit market, particularly for those interested in trying gummies. Their products provide the expected benefits of shilajit but, you can get better concentration offered by other brands such as Nootrum. For people who want a convenient or lower-dose option, Better Alt might fit the bill. However, for those seeking maximum potency, verified purity, and extract quality, there are better options out there that provide more for a similar price.
