Natural Factors Osteomove Extra Strength Joint Care Ingredients
Manganese (Sulfate Monohydrate) - 1.5 MG
Manganese (sulfate monohydrate) is an essential mineral and antioxidant. It can prevent inflammation, helping you maintain a healthy joint structure, while boosting the health of the eyes and brain, and even improving iron absorption, to prevent conditions like anaemia.
The problem is, when looking at the recommended daily value, manganese should be taken in doses of 1.8 mg for women and 2.3 mg for men (1). This means the 1.5 mg present in Osteomove isn't going to produce optimal effects in adults of any gender.
Sodium - 35 MG
Sodium is a strange ingredient to put in a joint supplement. It is an important mineral and can offer a range of benefits to the human body, but it's also proven to increase inflammation (2).
This means it could be extremely detrimental to your joints if you're consuming too much, so is not a wise thing for those already dealing with problems like osteoarthritis to be consuming.
Potassium Chloride - 260 MG
Potassium chloride is a synthetic compound similar to glucosamine sulfate. It functions as a proteoglycan synthesis stimulator, meaning it increases the production of cartilage, helping to repair damaged or degrading joints and reduce pain and inflammation.
However, studies suggest that dosages of 600 to 750 mg per day are required to see any real benefits (3). With Osteomove containing 260 mg per serving, it's unlikely to be enough to have the desired effect.
Glucosamine Sulfate (Shellfish) - 1,500 MG
Glucosamine sulfate is found in shellfish and can slow or prevent the degradation of collagen in the joints. This makes it useful to help with joint pain, alleviate the symptoms of osteoarthritis, and even prevent the disease from progressing (4).
The 1,500 mg of glucosamine sulfate present in Osteomove actually falls within the optimal daily range. This one's fine.
OptiMSM (Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane) - 600 MG
Methyl-sulfonyl-methane is a chemical usually found in green vegetables, fruits, and plants. Rich in sulfur, it's been shown to have amazing anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
It can improve joint health and the symptoms of osteoarthritis, while preventing inflammation and damage throughout the rest of the body (5).
Unfortunately, to do this, doses of 3,000 mg per day are required. As Osteomove contains just a fifth of that, it's unlikely to be of any use at all.
Chondroitin Sulfate (Bovine Cartilage) - 400 MG
Chondroitin sulfate is produced naturally by most mammals. One of the main components of cartilage, bovine cartilage is a great source to offer benefits like boosting the health of joint cartilage, easing joint pain and stiffness, and relieving the symptoms of osteoarthritis. (6).
OsteoMove Ultra Fruit Polyphenol Complex (Grape Seed Extract, Bilberry, Blueberry, Cranberry, Pomegranate, Raspberry, Strawberry) - 200 MG (Providing 152 MG Of Polyphenols)
Polyphenols are compounds commonly found in fruits which can improve the health of your joints, eyes, brain, and heart, and offer additional benefits, like enhanced fat metabolism.
Grape seed extract is a particularly great source, which is made even more effective by the other polyphenols supporting it.
Unfortunately, studies suggest these effects are only seen when using doses of around 900 mg per day (7). With Osteomove containing just 200 mg, it simply isn't enough to produce the desired results.
Boswellia (Boswellia Serrata) Extract (Resin) - 100 MG (Providing 60 MG Of Boswellic Acids)
Boswellia extract has been shown to ease chronic pain in the joints, swelling in the brain, joint inflammation, and the symptoms of osteoarthritis (8). And this is realistically the only ingredient in here that's reasonably dosed.
Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) Extract (Rhizome) - 30 MG (Providing 28.5 MG Of Curcuminoids)
Turmeric extract comes from the roots of a plant in the ginger family called curcuma longa. It has long been used as a spice and herbal medicine in Asia due, to the presence of curcumin,
A proven anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, it can neutralise free radicals, prevent oxidative damage, and protect our cartilage, joints, and organs (9).
Once again though, the dosage present in Osteomove is far too low. With 1,500 mg of curcumin required each day to do any good, the 28.5 mg present here is of no use.
Hydrolyzed Collagen Type II (Gallus Gallus) (Cartilage) - 15 MG
Collagen type ii is a type of collagen found in fish and chicken, with the type present here coming from the Asian gallus gallus junglefowl. Studies suggest it promotes cartilage production and elasticity, and helps ease joint pain.
There are multiple problems with its use here though. Not only is collagen type ii considered one of the least effective types, but dosages are usually between 2.5 and 15 grams, with 40 mg being the minimum dosage required for it to be of use (10).
The low dose and efficacy of collagen used in Osteomove therefore mean it'll likely be of no use whatsoever.
Hyaluronic Acid - 15 MG
Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide best known for the benefits it has on the skin, such as boosting its elasticity and healing time and reducing wrinkles and aging. However, it can also improve the health of the cartilage, joints, and eyes as well (11).
The problem is, most studies suggest doses around 200 mg per day are required to produce these effects. With Osteomove containing just 15 mg, it's likely to have very little impact, if it has any at all.
Boron (Sodium Tetraborate) - 450 MCG
Boron is a mineral and metal element that's beneficial for joint integrity, as it can improve bone density and reduce inflammation, while also offering benefits like lowering cholesterol and improving blood plasma and testosterone production and brain functions.
Like with everything else in Osteomove though, the issue lies in the dosage. With 10 mg of boron daily the recommended dose to produce optimal results, the miniscule 450 mcg present here will do virtually nothing (12).
